Check the listing for details. Vintage Hydrometer Scientific Test Instrument Apparatus 1922 Budapest Brass. Condition: Used. Listed at 150.00 USD. This sure is an interesting device - wish I could tell you what it is. But someone out there will most likely know. Looks to be some kind of scientific testing instrument - I have speculations, but not anywhere near certain. Could maybe be for testing specific gravity - a hydrometer? Or to somehow test alcohol or sugar content for wine making? Hey - you can tell people it's the first breathalyzer - or whatever you want. Shipping only to any of the 50 U.S. states. Looks to have been made in Hungary, as both the instruction sheet on the box and the device itself are marked BUDAPEST. The instruction sheet is in a foreign language - so most likely Hungarian. Instruction sheet and device are marked: ERDELY ES SZABO - that is probably the manufacturer. Instrument also marked TUDOMANYOS MUSZERGYAR, which I believe I can translate as scientific instruments. Box and device look to have model or serial number - 3322. Materials: cast iron base. All the rest looks to be brass and copper. Glass tube and glass "thermometer" portion. The scale is graduated from zero (0) to fifteen (15). The little pot at the bottom is a burner with a wick. When assembled, device is about 21" tall. There are 6 separate pieces - they easily screw together - although it was like a puzzle on how to figure out assembly. All the parts fit neatly into the box for storage. Box is dovetailed - hinges and clasp all intact. Only defect is one wood piece on edge of wood lid is missing. I can not say for sure the date this device was made, but instruction sheet has mention of 1922. See photos for best description of condition. No dents. No significant scratches. Looks to be complete. Even the glass portions have survived intact! This is a vintage item - probably around 100 years old - so it does show some wear and staining from use and age. I believe it has survived remarkably well for how long it has been around. Ask questions as necessary. Put this on your kitchen counter and let your friends and family try to figure out what it is. Be the envy of them all. Cuz where ya gonna find another one?! Returns accepted with full refund if you are not satisfied. (You would need to pay return shipping.) Sorry, no sales to Canada or anywhere other than 50 U.S. states. HAPPY COLLECTING! RM-1
