Check the listing for details. Vintage RARE VARIANT 1950's Pierce model 85 / E.V 630 dynamic microphone w stand. Listed at 95.00 USD. Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a rare and unique variant of the 1940's Electro Voice 1st generation 630 microphone. This particular model was sold under license by E.V and sold under the Pierce brand name. They called it the model 85. Electro Voice sold a few of it's mics to other companies such as Rauland Borg, Pierce, Auricon and Dukane to name a few. This mic comes with the stand shown. Pic # 2 shows this very design in an old 1940's E.V catalog along with several other models of that time period. I have seen quite a few different labels on a 630 type mic before but only about one dozen by this company. This is the early 630 type with the slender, longer lower pistol grip. This 85 model has been tested and has a non-working original element set at high Z. These were originally manufactured as a "general purpose" mic for use as dispatch and public announcement. They were also used for singing and broadcasting. These 630 mics also have an omni-directional pattern. It will still make a great mic for any live event or a lovely display piece in any mic collection and very unique due to it's rarity. Again, non-working. The polished chrome housing is decent despite having heavy pitting as seen in the pictures provided. The Pierce badge shows wear in the finish but completely legible. Mostly scuffs, nicks and scratches but zero dents or engravings on the mics finish. The threads for the cable and stand are perfect with zero stripping. Overall this piece is physically a 5 + on a scale of 1 - 10. The joint mechanism has plenty of tension so you can get just the right angle needed on the head of the mic. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE... The stand itself is period to the mic and it's an Electro Voice 423A model. It has quite a bit of fine pitting and just as much wear as the mic. It does compliment the Model 85 and provides a stable platform. It's an all aluminum piece with a satin chrome finish. The 4 inch chrome riser shows a bit of wear but not too bad overall. It has the 3 original rubber pads that will help to keep this heavy stand from scratching any surface it may rest on. The dimensions of the stand with mic are appx 10 inches tall (with mic fully raised upwards) X 5 inches wide. She'll make a great display piece anywhere in the home or office or studio.
