Check the listing for details. Wonderful Porcelain Syrup Pitcher w/ Fish Decorations ca. 1875. Color: Multicolor, Condition: Used. Listed at 65.00 USD. We recently came across this wonderful syrup pitcher in an estate filled with many primative and 19th century antiques. We believe it is porcelain. It measures 8" from the bottom to the top of the finial, and it is 6" wide from handle to spout. We believe this to be a syrup pitcher based on its shape and the type of metal lid. What we can't figure out is why there would be images of fish on the side of a syrup pitcher!!! Look closely at the photos here. on one side of the pitcher is an image of a carp and roach. On the other side is an image of a pike and perch. It is decorated around the top with a seaweed type image, and the handle has a decoration as well. The lid is metal. It looks like tin, but cannot be 100% sure. It sits perfectly on the metal rim on the top of the porcelain, and the lid is securely attached!! What looks like a crack under the spout we believe is a seam in the porcelain. There is interior crazing. No company name or mark, but there is the letter "J" on the bottom of the handle. It is most likely either English or American. This piece would make a great display piece in a kitchen or in a dining room. I have liquidated estates for over 40 years. I have been using eBay for the past few years to help liquidate items, many of which come from assisted living communities where estate sales cannot be held out of concern for the security for the other residents. I strive to be accurate in my listing descriptions. If you have a question or concern about any item, please contact me BEFORE making an offer. Payment is appreciated and expected within 24 hours of purchase. I will usually ship out the item the following day using USPS Priority Mail or FedEx Home Delivery. The postage shown in my listing is ONLY AN ESTIMATE. The actual amount may be higher or lower depending on the location of the buyer. Please wait for an invoice before making payment, if possible. The invoice should correctly reflect the amount of postage to your zip code. Also, upon receiving your item in the mail, you have TWO DAYS to report any damage which occurred during transit. I DO NOT SELL INTERNATIONALLY. However, there are a few countries that I WILL ship to using the International Shipping Program offered by eBay.
