Mechanical pendulum wind-up. Strikes out the hour and half-hour on a two-rod chime. To be honest, this clock has a loud, obnoxious sounding chime. Maybe it's just me, but perhaps whoever wants it can adjust it properly, I could not. Clock has an enamel type finish in brown with grey and black stripes. Face and glass look good, with no visible marks. Not sure of type of wood. In good condition with only small, minor dings and scratches consistent with an older, used clock. I don't know the age. My guess is around 1970's or possibly 80's. Comes with key.
