Check the listing for details. WW2 British Army 1939 Pattern Entrenching Tool/Shovel ~ 1940 Dated. Condition: Used. Listed at 203.33 USD. WW2 British 1939 pattern shovel or Linneman tool. Disliked by troops and found to be only effective on soft soil it was made obsolete by July 1941. This example is dated 1940 and made by John Perks. Following the war this was used for building work and was covered in cement (some traces still remain) and had a crack in the handle when I got it. It has been sympathetically cleaned and the handle repaired and would make a great addition to a collection. This is the first I’ve come across and these are no doubt a scarce item.
