Additional Details for eCommerceGUC Description of Item ?GUC Notes: WW2 Era Officer's Calling Card case - Leather, with cards. ------------ Outstanding, vintage Officer's leather calling card case, by Kenwood. Intended for an Officer, presumed to be a Gentleman, a suitable way to carry and present an. Mandatory for an Officer who would be serving in any capacity including contact with officers in other countries. This example was owned by William W. Whitney, Lieutenant Air Corps Untied States Army, who left several cards inside when lost it 82 years ago. Most are still attached to the perforated pad. Exhaustive research has provided a possible W.W. Whitney- we found a Bombadier whose last mission was over Ploie?ti, Romania in 1943, one of 44 crews that were lost in a raid on the oil fields. Whoever was the owner, it managed to travel from 1941 London, through a stop in Tumbridge-Wells in 1952, to Naperville in 2023, and somewhere before 1943 it fell into the hands of a charming English farmgirl who had gone to London to help the War Effort, promising her parents to stay away from "those American flyers with the fast hands". 78 years later that farmgirl's grandaughter was clearing out an old trunk and found this special memento. ------------ CONDITION - historic, vintage, authentic this is the absolute best example of a Calling Card Case from this era available outside of those very trendy and expensive boutiques that cater to militaria fetishists.
