White on Blue or White on Black (Negative) available. This NEW White/Blue White/Black LED display has a number of unique design features. 1. Custom Japanese FFSTN (negative) Tri-Axis LCD panel for improved side to side (lateral) and 12o'clock racked view. Both displays look fantastic mounted in these Yamaha samplers. Colour will depend on personal preference. Pls specify which type you prefer when buying. 2. Optimised display contrast to match the Yamaha front panel control. These displays have been designed to work perfectly with the existing A4000/A5000 contrast control. Full range adjustment is possible. NO modifications / changes are required to your sampler. 3. Oversized LED backlight. Largest possible backlight footprint, keeping LED's away from the viewing area to avoid unwanted lightspot. The result is a flat, even background / border with minimal imperfections. With this black negative display, the backlight design was very important. If the border was patchy and uneven due to LED lightspot, it would ruin the look of the display. 4. Custom 5000K Pure White LED's. The LED's used on this display are pure white 5000 Kelvin types. They were specifically requested. I wanted pure white light to maximise the display contrast. Combined with the backlight design, custom bezel dimensions and the highest quality 'FF' double film compensation / polarizers. The final result is a display that looks nearly like an OLED, nearly ! Its as close as it's possible to get with a Negative Black LCD. Its very difficult to get the black display 'right' A significant number of revisions were required during design to achieve this aim. Marginal gains philosophy was applied to everything, the collective result is, indisputably, the best looking Negative White on Blue / White on Black LCD available. 5. Fully adjustable backlight dimmer. This feature is absolutely necessary with the black display in particular. Before it ships, the brightness will be set to the level 'i' think is correct for the black FFSTN glass. You can, ofcourse, adjust it further to either brighten (anticlockwise) or dim (clockwise) trick is, not to boost it too much. When its clearly readable @ arms length, it's bright enough. There is a point, a sweetspot, where the graphics are not too bright and not too dim, the background is as black as possible and it looks amazing. Armed with the backlight dimmer. Its possible to dial in this sweetspot perfectly. It simply needs fine tuning. The dimmer is mounted on the display, top right hand corner, adjustment is possible with a small screwdriver. The display can be connected up, screwed in, then switched on and set up, from your normal, viewing position. then front panel reassembled, lid back on. Installation complete. These special displays were designed in parallel with my Roland JD/JV and Akai Tri-Axis. They all share the same design characteristics. I used the same tricks on each to maximise the performance. They all have the same Tri-Axis glass produced in Japan, designed to maximise the viewing angles. The blue display in comparison is relatively straightforward to design. For example, It doesn't matter how bright the backlight is on the blue display, with the black display, it's critical. A lot of time and effort has went into designing and manufacturing this special display. The pursuit of perfection, means the display is built by 2 different companies. One to produce the special Tri-Axis glass. The other, the chip on board and final assembly. The selling price is a reflection of that whole process and ultimately what you'll recieve in the post, the best looking, best performing, best quality display for your sampler.
